OFFSHORE WIND

Working Group

The purpose of the Offshore Wind Working Group (OWWG) is to provide a networking and information sharing platform for professionals with an interest in offshore wind in Aotearoa New Zealand.

OWWG

About the Offshore Wind Working Group

The group has attracted a wide range of expertise and interest from engineers, developers, academics, environmental scientists, lawyers, unionists, regional development professionals, and regulatory specialists.

In August 2021, the group became part of the New Zealand Wind Energy Association as a sub-committee, and Giacomo Caleffi became the first Chair of the OWWG. Following Giacomo’s move to Copenhagen Offshore Partners in 2022, Tom Young (Infrastructure Sustainability Council) was elected Chair. When Tom Young moved to BlueFloat Energy in 2023, Nick Cozens from BECA was elected to be the new Chair, reporting to the NZWEA Board.

Send an email to Nick Cozens explaining your professional interest in offshore wind energy. We encourage a wide range of expertise from engineering, science, policy, management, logistics, trade union and legal backgrounds.

Participation and time commitment is at any level you choose ranging from observer, if you just want to listen in to meetings and be ‘kept in the loop’, to active contributor and presenter.

Currently, membership of OWWG does not attract a fee. As your interest grows in the sector, we encourage OWWG members to become registered members of the NZ Wind Energy Association.
