Mercury Energy have confirmed construction of a NZD$287m wind farm in Northland, bringing Mercury’s total commitment to new renewable energy generation to more than $1b in just over two years.
The wind farm will use 12 of the Vestas V162 machines, each with a 6.4MW generation capacity. Each turbine tip will have a height of 206m, with a hub-height of 125m. The rotor diameter will be 162m. The total wind farm installed capacity will be 77MW and will generate approx. 221 GWh per annum – the equivalent to powering about 27,000 homes.
