Unison Networks and Roaring 40s are proposing to build a wind farm in two stages in the Te Pohue-Titiokura area, 35 kilometres west of Napier.
Stage 1 (Titiokura), for up to 45 megawatts of capacity from 15 turbines, has received consent.
The original resource consent application for Stage 2 (Te Waka) - for 111 megawatts - received consent from the Hastings District Council but was declined by the Environment Court in April 2007. Unison made an application in June 2007 to the Hastings District Council for a modified version of its Te Waka project. The revised Te Waka application was for up to 102 megawatts from 34 turbines.
The Minister for the Environment “called-in” the application to the Environment Court, which declined consent for the revised proposal in February 2009.
