Energy 3 has applied to the Marlborough District Council for consent to build a small, 1-megawatt wind farm on the Lulworth property south of Ward. The application was publicly notified in December 2009.
Energy 3’s is planning to erect four 0.25 megawatt turbines, with a maximum height of 45 meters. The wind farm would generate 3.2 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year – which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 320 homes. The small scale of the turbines means the existing access road can be utilised with only minor modification.
