Genesis Energy has a strategy of having a mix of thermal, hydro and wind generation to ensure we have a secure supply of electricity now and well into the future. 

At Genesis Energy we are committed to exploring opportunities for renewable energy. We have started construction on a 2MW mini-hydro generation plant on the Mangaio tunnel outfall within the Tongariro Power Scheme and have a consented site for a wind farm at Awhitu, south of Auckland .
